SCREENWRITING IN PARADISE AROUND THE WORLD
Screenwriting in Paradise began as a series of international workshops built around a simple idea: bring writers together in an inspiring environment and use great movies to explore the craft of storytelling.
Those early workshops brought together aspiring and professional screenwriters from around the world for an immersive combination of film, discussion, writing and practical story development.
Today, that same Screenwriting by Example approach opens the experience to anyone who loves movies and storytelling.
For our international workshop in Portugal, I was joined by Jan Harlan (pictured above), longtime executive producer for Stanley Kubrick on films including The Shining, Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide Shut. Jan shared his experiences working alongside Kubrick and joined us in exploring the creative decisions behind some of cinema’s most memorable films.
The setting may have been paradise, but the purpose was always the same: to look at great movies differently—and how they can inspire us in telling our own stories.
